Davisha Alwani Daryani

Chair of Board of Directors

My story started at the table, working one-on-one with children who were struggling to read, focus, and believe in themselves.

For over 15 years, I’ve worked closely with neurodivergent children and adolescents as a literacy and cognitive training specialist. Before becoming a mother myself, I dedicated my career to understanding how the brain learns — earning my degree from The George Washington University and training extensively in the Orton-Gillingham approach, structured literacy, and executive functioning development.

I’ve helped children, adolescents and adults with dyslexia, ADHD, and other learning differences strengthen their reading, memory, attention, and emotional regulation. The most important thing I’ve learned and applied is that skills alone aren’t enough. Before any skill could be taught or lesson could be mastered, I noticed something far more important: children needed confidence and agency. Many of the students I worked with didn’t lack intelligence, ability or potential — they lacked a sense of control over their own learning. After years of being told what milestones to reach and what deficits to fix, they began to see themselves through the lens of what they couldn’t do.

I realized my job wasn’t to shape them into someone else’s definition of success — it was to help them rediscover their voice, their strengths, and their ability to steer their own path. I wanted to foster their grit — their resilience, self-awareness, and belief that they could achieve whatever they set their mind to.

Being a mom of two young girls has only deepened my commitment to this work. I understand what it means to advocate fiercely for your child — and just as importantly, what it means to help them find their own voice and learn to advocate for themselves.

At GritPowered, we bring both professional experience and personal compassion to every family we work with. Our goal is to help your child grow — with the tools to learn, the confidence to lead, and the inner strength to thrive.
