TO SUPPORT STUDENTS WITH SOCIAL, EMOTIONAL, ACADEMIC, AND EXECUTIVE FUNCTIONING NEEDS
What is GRIT?
GRIT is resilience in action, building agency in students to grow and succeed for life.
Who do we serve?
We work with adolescents and teens from 5th through 12th grade.
How do we do it?
We begin by identifying each student’s challenges and goals, then partner with both the student and their parents to set up weekly mentorship sessions focused on building effective strategies.
Hear From Some Of Our Mentors
“I used to get really stressed about homework because I didn’t know where to start. My mentor showed me how to break big assignments into smaller steps. Now I feel way less overwhelmed, and I actually get things done on time.”
8th Grade Student
“I didn’t think I was a ‘leader,’ but my mentor showed me that leadership can just mean listening to others and helping the group. Now I feel more confident when working on group projects.”
9th Grade Student
“I get really anxious about speaking in front of people. My mentor gave me strategies to calm down and practice. Last month, I presented in English class and actually felt confident. That was a huge win for me.”
12th Grade Student
“At first, I didn’t see the point of talking about goals. But when I started writing them down with my mentor, I realized I was actually making progress. It feels good to check things off and know I’m moving forward.”
